Mozambique relaunches tender for a 30MW solar photovoltaic power station in Dondo

The Government of Mozambique, through MIREME and the Energy Regulatory Authority (ARENE), has relaunched the Request for Pre‑Qualification for the selection of an Independent Power Producer (IPP) responsible for the development of a 30 MW solar photovoltaic power station in the district of Dondo, Sofala Province.

The initiative is part of the Renewable Energy Auctions Promotion Programme (PROLER), launched in 2020, which aims to strengthen electricity generation capacity, diversify the energy mix and attract private investment through competitive and transparent public tenders. The programme is supported by the European Union, through the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and foresees a total capacity of approximately 120 MW in solar and wind projects.

Expressions of interest must be submitted by 22nd June 2026, with the launch of the subsequent phase – the call for proposals – expected in the second half of 2026.

The relaunch of this tender reinforces the country’s commitment to the energy transition, the mobilisation of private investment and the development of renewable energy.
