The 5th CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar took place on 20th October 2025, in Maputo (Mozambique), and focused on Energy Planning and Financing — the first pillar defined as a priority in the CPLP 2030 Energy and Climate Cooperation Roadmapin by the focal points and representatives present at the 4th CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar, held in March this year.

The II CPLP Energy Conference will take place on the 27th and 28th of May 2025, in Estoril Congress Center, Cascais, Portugal, and will be the stage for the dissemination of the latest developments and anchor projects for energy transitions in each CPLP country, with a view to making the most of endogenous resources and diversifying the energy matrix, to ensure universal, reliable and affordable access for all, while supporting socio-economic development.

The 4th Business Conference - Renewables in Mozambique (RENMOZ 2024) returns to Maputo on the 1st trimester of 2025. Organized by ALER and the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER), the event aims to promote the renewable energy sector and disseminate crucial data for its development in Mozambique.

The 4th CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar will take place on March 25, 2025, in São Tomé and Príncipe, and will mainly focus on the development of a Lusophone Roadmap for COP 30.

The 3rd CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar focused on Carbon Markets, and was an opportunity to discuss and share best practices for regulating and trading carbon credits, considering the socio-environmental impacts generated.

Under the topic “The contribution of climate finance mechanisms to accelerating the energy transition in the CPLP Member States”, the 2nd CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar focused mainly on the role of climate funds.

The Government of São Tomé and Príncipe, which holds the Presidency of the CPLP, together with the Energy Thematic Committee of the CPLP Consultative Observers, coordinated by ALER and RELOP, and with the institutional support of the CPLP, will promote an Energy and Climate Seminars Series to discuss the contribution of climate finance mechanisms to accelerating the energy transition in the CPLP Member States.

The webinar “Energizing Africa: How EU Financing is Changing the Renewable Landscape?” will bring together EU development finance institutions alongside experienced project developers to discuss the role of EU financing in supporting more clean energy projects.

ALER Market Outlook provides information on the latest developments in the renewable energy market in the five Portuguese-speaking African countries that ALER monitors, materialized in national market sheets, exclusively accessible to ALER Members.

Organized by GET.transform, in collaboration with GET.invest and in partnership with ALER and AMER, "Scaling Distributed Generation in Mozambique" took place in Maputo on 29th February.

A Good Practices Seminar was held on December 13th in Luanda as part of the "Agreement for the Implementation of an Action" signed between the Angolan Ministry of Energy and Water (MINEA), the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association (ALER) and the EU-Angola Dialogue Facility.

The Business Conference – Renewables in Mozambique 2023 (RenMoz 2023) returned to Maputo on November 24, this time following the Mozambique-EU Global Gateway Investment Forum which took place on 22 and 23 November.

ALER is pleased to announce that it will host the 8th edition of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF 2023). The event took place in Praia, Cape Verde, on October 12th and 13th.

On July 11th, ALER joined forces with the Brazilian Renewable Energy Associations to broaden and promote debate and cooperation between Portuguese-speaking African countries and Brazil.

From July 3rd to 7th, ALER developed the Countries' Week: Each day, one country, to present all the information about renewable energies in Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe.

The Presentation event of the Portuguese version of the International Energy Agency Report - Africa Energy Outlook 2022 took place on December 12th, in Maputo and was simultaneously transmitted online.

The exclusive event for B2B matchmaking took place on December 8th, in Maputo, at the Hotel Southern Sun that aimed to bring together the domestic financial sector with international development finance institutions.
